The Merrill Law Dream Scholarship

We are happy to announce the Dream Scholarship Winner for 2026. First we will share a little bit of information about this award.

The Dream Scholarship was started in 2016 to help support the dreams of a current high school or college student looking to make a difference through the pursuit of their passion.

Applicants were asked to submit an image with a caption that in combination shares their dream and shows how it makes a difference.

We present a $2500 scholarship to applicant who provides the most creative photo or image with a caption to explain their dream.

We are happy to announce our 2026 Dream Scholarship Winner.

Gabriel Allinson, dreams of being an Electrical Engineer.

“Ever since elementary school I have loved math, so naturally when it came to vocabulary day the first thing I thought of was algebra. This photo reminds me of how much fun I have when learning math, and how much I enjoy having the ability to find concrete answer for things around me.

When I eventually made it up to 9th grade I took a computer science class. I was introduced to a new way of finding answers, a new way of thinking. The answers weren’t concrete like math but instead there was just a more efficient way of finding the right answer. And there always is a more efficient way.

And this train of thought is what led me to electrical engineering. I love math, I love trying to be the most efficient possible, and get as close as I can to a concrete solution.

Whatever community I join in the future I want my contribution to be not only correct but the most beneficial possible. For example if I created a circuit that had too many resistors or too little it could just waste electricity, not benefiting as much. I would do my best, being efficient and correct.”
